ADJUSTABLE STARTER SECTION

No, it is a simple push fit system.

No. The system is designed to provide a gas tight joint. Sealant is only required where the Prima Smooth connects to the appliance. Here you should use rope gasket and a suitable high temperature sealant to provide a gas tight joint.

Prima Smooth can be cut down on site to the necessary length. It should always be cut down from the female end in order that the male spigot remains in place. A cover band is available to cover the cut edge in both painted and unpainted versions. The cover band is purchased separately.
Alternatively an adjustable pipe can be used.

2m where there is no more than 150mm in a horizontal run.
1.5m where there is between 150mm and 450mm in a horizontal run, as laid down in the national annexe of BS EN15287-1 for alternative connection methods.

Where a connecting flue pipe is designated as NM (Not Measured), then the calculation for the minimum distance is 3 x internal diameter i.e. 450mm on a 150mm diameter pipe. This applies to both painted and unpainted versions.
Where a connecting flue pipe is designated as M (Measured), then the distance to combustible materials must be the distance declared by the manufacturer of the connecting flue pipe.

It is recommended that there is a minimum vertical height of 600mm before any offset.

On a Prima Smooth to ICS connector, this is not necessary

Where the chimney is passing through a combustible floor into a habitable room i.e. bedroom, in which the chimney is enclosed in a shaft, a ventilated fire stop plate must always be used.
In a bungalow scenario where the chimney is passing through the ceiling directly into a ventilated attic space, a non ventilated fire stop plate may be used on the ceiling. A distance to combustibles of 60mm must be maintained from the outer wall of the chimney.

No. An enclosure is not required in the room containing the appliance.

Connection to an appliance, which is not connected to the fuel supply, may be carried out by a competent person. However connection to an appliance, which is connected to the fuel supply, must be carried out by a GAS SAFE (gas) or OFTEC (oil) registered installer.
