“Sitooterie” the predicted garden trend for summer 2023

(Washington, Tyne and Wear, 26. February 2023) The term ‘sitooterie’ is a Scottish word, which has recently come into popular usage. It is a combination of the words ‘sit’ and ‘oot’, meaning “to sit out” and is used to describe a type of outdoor seating area. Sitooteries have been popping up all over Scotland, and they are set to become the newest trend.

The new garden trend set to take over in summer 2023.

A sitooterie is a combination of a seating area and a hut or shelter. Think of it as an outdoor living room, complete with comfy furniture, a firepit, and a place to store your outdoor items. It is the perfect place to relax, entertain, and enjoy the great outdoors.

The term ‘sitooterie’ has been around for a while but it has become increasingly popular in recent years. This is due to the rise of the ‘staycation’, with more and more people opting to holiday closer to home rather than travelling abroad. As a result, sitooteries are becoming more and more in demand, as people look for ways to make the most of their outdoor space and enjoy the great outdoors without having to leave the comfort of their own.
