Schiedel ran a competition when introducing the GARDEN FIREPLACE concept in the UK market. The competition was launched nationally with designers submitting a concept to show off the GARDEN FIREPLACE in different settings. The project would be recorded from design through assembly to final completion. The best designs submitted would win the prize of the GARDEN FIREPLACE supplied to the site.

Challenge

The challenge was for a GARDEN FIREPLACE project to be conceived, drawn up, built and completed with images to show the design, the WIP phase through to completion, including the various stages of the build. The competition was open to designers across the UK and was left to their imagination, with the best submitted designs being awarded a GARDEN FIREPLACE supplied to the property in kit form. The designer would be responsible for the build and for providing the images.

Solution

Jennifer Devaney from the House of Alchemy came up with a great design to show a project concept in a patio garden, in Perth, Scotland. The original design showed the product set against a wall with Wisteria climbing plants and a design stencilled on the GARDEN FIREPLACE itself to blend into the surroundings and provide a relaxing space to chill out with family and friends. Jennifer provided the before during and after photos, which showed the project in all its stages and the GARDEN FIREPLACE fitting perfectly into its new home.

The Customer

Jennifer Devaney runs the House of Alchemy project, which looks at interior design using her properties in Scotland and France as a reference to demonstrate different techniques and aspects of design to improve a propoerty. In entering the design for the GARDEN FIREPLACE, she showed her originality by taking the standard product and stencilling it, to create a piece of artwork for the garden, which can then be changed year on year to bring a different look and feel to this patio garden. This shows how the GARDEN FIREPLACE can be reinvented and adapted over the years to continue to present a fresh focal point to embellish any garden, whilst continuing to create the warmth and feelgood factor, whether chilling with friends on a summer evening or having a barbecure with the family. This GARDEN FIREPLACE in Perth fits perfectly into its surroundings and was one of the worthy winners of Schiedel's design competition.
