Breathtaking ICID Installations by North Mill Stoves

(Washington, Tyne and Wear, 13. February 2018) North Mill Stoves are experts in chimney installation and also a dab hand at taking some outstanding photographs, which actually do justice to the breathtaking projects they are involved in.

Breathtaking ICID Installations by North Mill Stoves

Two such projects were complete with Schiedel’s ICID Twin Wall Chimney System providing the flueing systems to some stunning backdrops.
Long Crendon – Faux Chimney Breast

North Mill Stoves were invited to create a beautiful feature fireplace. The design for the new fireplace was conceived to complement the proportions of the room. It would also offer sufficient depth to safely house the existing ensuite services and the required Schiedel ICID twin wall flue.

Their HETAS Approved Engineers constructed the external elements of the flue whilst their talented fireplace specialist wove his magic indoors with block work and mortar. The end result was a fireplace which gave the impression that it had always been there.

The striking new feature was to be completed by a wood burning stove. The Charnwood C-Seven was chosen for its appealing design and added efficiency.
It took just one week, with the minimum disruption. The living room had been lifted from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

Romark Homes – Quainton Grade 2 Listed Barn Conversions
Extra care must always be taken with all properties. But when one such property is mentioned in the Doomsday book, with the current buildings dating back to the 16th century, then the responsibility is even more important

Grange Farm Barns was originally called Shipton Lee and remained in monastic possession until 1539. It changed hands several times before passing to Corpus Christi College, Oxford in the late 19th century. In 2012, and in a derelict condition, Grange Farm was acquired by Romark Homes who gave North Mill Stoves the task to undertake installations in the four barns at the site.

Romark were to transform the four barns into stunning residential properties which would provide wonderful contemporary homes whilst preserving and highlighting the heritage features of the buildings. Each property possessed a unique structure and character which North Mill Stoves aimed to  enhance with the addition of the right stoves.

In a wet and windy November 2013, North Mill Stoves  commenced the installation of sections of the flues through the roofs of the barns, whilst Romark worked on the timber frames. North Mill Stoves tackled the challenging height of the imposing Tithe Barn’s roof by working from one of the tallest towers that they had ever erected. It was crucial to ensure that the new twin wall flue system could be safely passed through the roof without disturbing the historic timbers and that it was adequately supported. ICID Plus has a 60mm distance to combustibles due to the extra insulation it provided.

Fast forward to August 2014  The now stunning Tythe Barn required an impressive stove despite the fact that the first floor mezzanine had created a cosy ground floor living room. The Rais Viva 120 Classic was installed, connecting seamlessly with Schiedel’s ICID Twin Wall Chimney System in stunning black. The end result, one can say, is “spectacular”.
The adjoining barn with its open gallery first floor possessed a grandeur which necessitated an equally impressive stove. The Rais Viva 120 Classic again proved to be the ideal choice and looked completely at home with Schiedel’s ICID system. A beautiful focal point without dominating the room.

The two rear barns had Rais Viva 98 Classic stoves with Schiedel ICID systems to provide the flueing.

Barry Tyrell from Romark Homes had nothing but praise for North Mill Stoves.
“Your fitters are to be congratulated for successfully adapting the roof in the Tithe Barn to get the chimney through. That was no mean feat working 9m above floor level but they succeeded and it looks great. I would have no hesitation in recommending North Mill Stoves, indeed I already have.”

Exceptional work in these projects and many others from North Mill Stoves. To see their projects and range of services, please head over to the North Mill Stoves website
