Energy efficient design | Log burning stove
Our Celsius system is a perfect solution for a modern fireplace insert, generating warmth and comfort, as well as style. It comes in a portrait frame with a highly insulating surround, formed from volcanic pumice sourced direct from the Hekla Volcano in Iceland.
Our innovative and advanced clean wood burning technology provides an eco-friendly and pleasant warmth. Log burning stoves achieve up to 84 % energy-efficiency – delivering more heat with less wood and are far more likely to heat larger rooms more efficiently than traditional radiators.
The insert stove comes with 2 convection grills to get the best possible distribution of heat. The grills are available in black or white. The fresh air supply to the Celsius insert is integrated within the chimney system.
Celsius has a standard height of 1500 mm, but since the frame and chimney have the same dimensions, the height can easily be changed with additional chimney modules.
Being formed from volcanic pumice, the Celsius system is simple and lightweight giving you clean lines and the smallest possible footprint to construct, and can be placed with 0 mm distance to combustible material from the back, and with only 300 mm from the sides.

clearSkies Level 5 for Sirius and Celsius
clearSkies certified appliances meet the minimum performance level for Ecodesign (which is the minimum legal requirement for an appliance manufactured in the UK from 1st January 2022). These new Ecodesign Regulations represent a significant tightening of criteria over the current CE requirements and specify the minimum energy efficiency of the appliance and the maximum levels of emissions permitted which are:
- CO – Carbon Dioxide
- PM – Particulate Matter
- OGC – Organic Gaseous Compounds
- NOx – Nitrogen Oxide
Both Sirius and Celsius achieve clearSkies Level 5, which is a 30% improvement on Ecodesign stove models and all Schiedel models are DEFRA Approved for use in Smoke Control Areas.
What is “DEFRA Exempt” or “DEFRA Approved” ?
DEFRA (Department of Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs) have strict guidelines on emissions. If a stove or appliance passes these emission level restrictions, then they appear on the official website as “appliances that meet specific criteria”, which both our Sirius and Celsius wood burning stoves pass with flying colours. This ensures that the customer has a highly efficient stove system within their home. Both Sirius 1, Sirius 3G and Celsius are officially listed on the DEFRA website.

Wood: The most natural way of heating
Sustainability and climate protection are very important topics for all of us. It is our responsibility, both as a manufacturer and as a consumer to be careful about which energy sources we use and how we use them.
The intelligent and sustainable use of natural, renewable, raw materials, such as wood, as a renewable energy source alongside energy-efficient heating systems, helps us to achieve challenging climate goals with low emissions. The use of firewood saves millions of tons of CO2 in Europe and is a significant help in avoiding greenhouse gases.
The natural qualities of volcanic pumice
Pumice is a natural insulator. This is the unique property that separates pumice from all other chimney materials. The insulating properties of Pumice allow the flue gases in the chimney to quickly reach their optimum temperature enabling the heating appliance to reach its optimum performance shortly after lighting.
It also keeps the chimney warmer longer as the heat output of the appliance decreases – once again aiding performance and reducing the likelihood of condensation and soot build-up.
Resistant to temperature change
Pumice has very little expansion and contraction with temperature change. This reduces the possibility of cracking and structural damage that can occur with other products.
High insulation properties
Pumice is a natural insulator, able to maintain the temperature of flue gases when other products have allowed the temperature to fall below the dew point.
Lightweight
Pumice is strong yet lightweight allowing one person to lift and build the chimney units.
